Diver Dies Near Rockport - Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at 10:38:32 AM Members of the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit cut a hole in the ice on the St. Lawrence River yesterday just off the Rockport waterfront as they try to find the body of Melvin Douglas Smeaton. Mr. Smeaton drowned after an equipment malfunction during a dive on a wreck Sunday.
