Eric J. Hutchinson (You Shall Be Missed) - Friday, June 08, 2007 at 5:53:29 AM
I still can't believe it is true. I was at his camp this past Sunday. I have tears in my eyes right now as I type this. I don't know what to say except that we are all going to miss him very much.
Calling hours will be held 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Costello Funeral Home in Alexandria Bay. A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday at St. Cyril's Roman Catholic Church with Father Scott Fobare officiating. Burial will be at Barnes Settlement Cemetery in Alexandria Bay.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alexandria Bay Minor Hockey Scholarship Fund.
UPDATE: Our Mayor Pat Simpson who owns the Ship Motel and the Schaefer Family who run the Ledges Motel are offering accommodations for FREE to anyone that needs them because of the Funeral Services. All you have to do is give them call. and explain who you are and that you are coming to town to attend the services.

Below are some pictures of Eric. I wasn't sure if I should put anything up, but I really think Eric would want us to remember the good times we had with him. We have a pretty tight crew and have had a lot of fun over the years.
I took this picture this past summer when Eric, Nick Schaefer, and I went on a little trip to Canada. This was in Gananoque at Ribfest. Just five days ago the three of us were talking about going again this summer.
From the same trip. We we're all being goofy and driving around with little Canadian Flags in our ears. We begged these people to let us have them off their display booth. Eric called this trip our Crazy Canadian Adventure and he wanted me to take lots of pics.
I took this picture last summer when Eric, Mike Lavarnway, Nick Schaefer, my brother Bobby Williams, and I were out on the river. Eric is on the left, Mike is on the right.
Eric swimming in the tube from the same day. Mike on the left.
This is from two years ago during the Saint Patricks Day Party. We all wore Abay.com Shamrock Hoodies and goofy green wigs.
This picture is only a week or so old. It was actually on the Abay.com home page this past week. Eric was spotted over to Dark Island with his sister and some friends. Eric loved the River.
And this is sadly the last picture of Eric I have. I found this on my cell phone and it is actually from about five days ago at his camp on the River. He was being silly and had on this ancient pair of (blue blocker) like sunglasses that we found somewhere. We kept joking that he looked like Steve-O with them on.
Here is a video of Hutch singing with JPShaggy down to Skiffs. Hutch loved this song and he would have wanted to go out singing like a Rock Star.

I hear ya hetu! I myself visit this place often. So many funny stories that i share with people that knew him or didn't. I think of what kinda funny stories might of been. Definitely someone who i will think of for my whole life and tell stories about forever. He helped define my college life. I remember the first day i met him and the last day I saw him. not quite sure the last conversation i had with him but i know we were making summer plans.

Was thinking of Hutch as I do on a regular basis, and decided to pop in and see if this was still going. I have to say I was not too surprised to find people still posting. Hutch was a special person, and I still find myself telling stories about him often. Miss you Hutch, think about you all the time.

Its still hard to believe that we all lost one very important person, more importantly a great friend. I'll never forget Hutchy; from the first time I met him in Cobleskill, as well as all the fun times in "The Dam". You're a great friend buddy; and I will always remember the great times we had. I will never forget the Vibes in Mariaville; or any of the other shows we saw together. My best wishes go out to Norm, Tim and the rest of his family. Hutch has just gone away, we will see you again my friend. "Listen to the river sing sweet songs to rock my soul". I love you buddy and I miss you very much. RIP Hutchy. You're always with me, everywhere I go.

My Husband and I never actually got to meet Eric - we were the couple vacationing at the Fisherman's Wharf Hotel that fateful Thursday night. We were the first to respond to Jacob's plea for help. It was a very traumatic event for us, especially because we have a grown son of our own. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family (we wrote them a letter) and all of his friends - which sounds like there are sooo many. We will never forget the young man we never got to meet.

So sad to hear of this news. I lived right next door to Eric, and we would play everyday as children. He used to scare me and tell me Terminator was in his barn. LOL. I would freak and run away and he would come back laughing to get me. I remember playing and he would stop everything to grab a bowl of Cheerios. He will be greatly missed. Nothing good ever came with a phone call that starts with "I got some bad news". My cousin "Earache" was just a little kid when I left the Bay, his sister Liz and brothers Tim and Paul were just as much my siblings as they were his. I regret not getting to know him better. But as countless people know, even if you leave the Bay, the Bay never leaves you, it just becomes one big extended family. And I think that this website has proven that. So long Eric, keep smiling and know that you are loved!

Growing up it always felt like I had two little brothers because Brian and Eric were always together. I've had the amazing pleasure to work with Eric for awhile now so I am so thankful to have those memories to hold on to. I didn't forget your Bravos Eric, and I know you will be keeping an eye on us and the boats so I promise to change my shirt more often. Brad and I will miss you!!!!

Norm, Cindy, Liz, Hutch, Paul I am so sorry for your loss. The river is the most magical place I have seen in my travels. I have been gone for over 10 years from it. All who have wrote to your son Eric, have felt that power. It holds us all together, no matter where we move on to, we are still there. His passing is unfortunate and early, but he will live on forever in the magic of the st. lawrence river- and be remembered for all times- within its people she nurtures.

As we walked around town this past weekend It was quite obvious that he will be greatly missed by everyone. May we extend our deepest sympathy to you and your family.

It is difficult to make sense of such a tragedy, and it leaves us heartbroken. But if Eric's purpose in life was to bring smiles and happiness, he did his job so well that it didn't take him a full lifetime. His job on earth was completed. He was a special soul who we were privileged to have with us for 28 years. While we will miss his physical presence, his legacy will live on, since thoughts and memories of Eric will always bring a smile.

We will all miss you! Eric was always happy and it was catchy. Lots of great times over the years. To everyone who loved him, just remember he is still smiling somewhere.

The sadness and tradegy is beyond words, and our prayers are with The Hutchinson family and the many friends that are grieving at this time. We never know what each day holds, so we all need to live in a way that holds no regrets, because we never know...

I lived next door to Hutch and his great family growing up. I knew I was always welcome there. Even though it's been a while, Hutch has always been a great friend. My thoughts are with his great family. Hutch will be missed everyday.

Of a truth, men are mystically united: a mystic bond of brotherhood makes all men one - Thomas Carlyle I am truly heartbroken in the loss of Eric. He was a Hutchinson. A kind, caring person that could always bring a smile. This is a great loss to us all.

I was in complete shock to hear the terrible news this morning. I've know Hutch ever since I was little. I always loved watching Hutchie play hockey. I had Hutch as a substitute numerous times. There was no other sub quite like him. The Bay just won't be the same without you. My heart goes out to the entire family. You'll be greatly missed man. Rest in Peace
