Bobby Bastian in serious condition. (UPDATE) - Wednesday, February 06, 2008 at 9:22:18 PM

I am not sure a lot of you know this and this is not official information but this is what I have been told regarding the current situation with Bobby Bastian who is a teacher at Alexandria Central. To the best of my knowledge I believe it to be accurate.

He is still in a coma and on a resperator in Syracuse. He was diagnosed with pancriatitis (sp.) and he has quite a few things working against him right now-(low blood presssure, high trigilcerides(sp?) etc.) They wanted to do surgery yesterday, but he wasn't stable enough to do anything. They were going to play it by ear by how well he was doing today. He's still hanging on. That's the last I've heard.

I sincerely hope Bobby pulls through.

UPDATE: 2-7-2008

Bobby's still in a medically induced coma, but his blood pressure is improving. Initial tests on his heart and kidneys say that thay have not been damaged by all of this. The infection in his pancreas is still a concern and he is on anti-biotics for this. The road to recovery is expected to be VERY long. Flowers and visits are not permitted yet, but the address to send cards to is:

University Hospital
750 East Adams Road
Syracuse, New York
13210

UPDATE 2-12-2008 From a family member...

"As of this morning Bobby is still critical, however he is off the life support and he is fighting to wake up. He is still in alot of pain and he still has the infection in his pancreas, however it's looking much better and the doctors are being alot more optimistic."

This is what I have heard too since I work in the school. He has a major infection in his pancreas. The next couple of days are going to be crucial. Say your prayers for him. He is going to need them. Not doing good at all. I'm saying my prayers for you Mr. Bastian. Your a great guy.
