| Farewell Greg Shippee - Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 7:42:02 AM
|
Greg Shippee spent a lot of time in Alexandria Bay.
I did not know him well but many of my friends did. They all say good things about Greg and they asked me to put something up.

I just wanted to say that I was amazed with the amount of friends and family that attended Greg's services on Saturday. I can't speak for the whole family (as I've only been a part of it for 9 years) But I am sure it made most of us very proud to see just how many people Greg had touched in his short life. Thank you to all that came out to pay thier respects to Greg and his family. and Lisa, please take Jeremy and I up on our offer to help with camp. Just let us know when and we WILL be there. Thank you all again- Amanda

| we have known greg for 30yrs and he is truly a 1 of a kind friend. hundreds of people wouldn't know each other if it wasn't for SHIPWRECK, what a great gift to his friends. .he brought people together and seemed to keep them in touch with his get togethers. lets not let that fade away in his memory. we're crushed by this loss. our hearts go out to his family & especially lisa his soulmate. may lisa know we will always be here or there for her & our friendship will be stronger than ever. GOD BLESS SHIPWRECK!! I'm sure he will say hi for us to our other friends who have gone before us.

| I don't even know where to start I met greg through friends years ago. I began to go to the party's that shook the rock including one where we had a firworks mishap that many will remember. Through him and Lisa I met many people that I consider close friends. I also managed rental properties and believe me there was no one better at masonry work than greg. After moving to Florida I didn't get to see Greg as much as I wanted and now it's to late. Ride on Greg and keep strong Lisa.

Knowing that she has alot of expenses... and uncountless issues to deal with in the future... as family and friends, I'm sure a donation to her would go a long way in Greg's eyes to help her threw this DIFFICULT time!!!!!!! I know the last year and a half for her was a rocky road! Thank God she is HEALTHY and we pray for her everyday!!! Lisa's sister Emily & husband Jeff! LISA PISIAK PO Box 1749 Cicero NY 13039

With My Sincere Sympathy. May you find comfort in knowing that your loved one touched the lives of so many others and gave them the gift of many happy memories. There is nothing I can do, to make him come back There are no words I can say, that can replace the words you long to hear . There are no answer's I can give, that will satisfy your questions There is not another soul I can introduce you to that will ever replace his And, there is no love I can offer that will ever replace the love you shared. I cannot promise your broken heart will ever be complete I will not say it could have been worse I will not deny it was a tragedy I will not lie and tell you he will come back. He never really left. I do promise he hears you when you speak I will say he loves you no matter the distance I will not deny he is in a better place And, I will not lie; he is waiting to greet you someday. He is every step you take He is in everything you do He is the air you breathe He is every beat of your heart. " He is like the wind. You cannot see him...but you will always feel him"

We have never known anyone who had more friends or knew more people of such diverse back ground and status in life as Greg. He was a true blue collar aristocrat. He was a gracious host and neighbor, and was happiest when everyone was enjoying his hospitality. He will be greatly missed, and Wellesley Island will never be the same.

| I have known Greg and his family for many years. The construction business brings people together in a different, yet lasting way. Greg and I could have a beer, exchange pleasantries, or maybe 'haggle' over his buying a trowel. I could always count on his phone call...usually at a most inopportune time...but always when he left for Florida or returned home. I'm going to miss those calls and that friendship. Certain, special friends will never be replaced. Greg is one of those really special friends.

He bought us all super soakers and always know how to show us kids a good time by, letting us ride the snowmobiles and jetskies, putting on wizard of oz when we went over for BBQs. He made the best BBQ chicken by marinating it in italian dressing. It's my favorite. Thank you Uncle Greg for being so good to us. We will never forget you.

In a split second your life could change and on Sunday, April 20, 2008 it did for all of us. The generousity of Greg & Lisa, which they showed all of us, should be remembered forever. From the beginning of Greg, Lisa, Thad, Mo, and Mickey at Pinocchio's Point in A-Bay to Greg & Lisa's newest adventure in Florida we were always welcomed to join them. Favorite Memories: July 4th Party, July 4th Fireworks, Greg's Birthday, Pirates Weekend, Almost Sinking the Party (Pontoon) Boat, Dale Earnhardt, Daytona 500, Atlanta 500, NASCAR, Harley Davidson, Riding, Bike Week, Mich. Light Beer, I guess it could go on and on..... The adventures were wonderful and when you woke-up at their camp in A-Bay it was Haven. So GREG will always be close to all of us and his memory will never be forgotten. We are all so very sad but remember what Greg always said "IT's NOON SOMEWHRE." We would like to get as many pictures as possible of Greg, to be compiled onto a memorial disk to be used at the service and then copies made to be given at a later date to anyone that requests one. Also, if anyone would like to speak at the service,we are in the process of setting that up also, just get ahold of me and we will try to accomodate as many as possible in the time constraints we have been given for the service. Thanks for your help.

I am adding this poem that our sister Patty found. She thought it would be nice to add to the comments on this page with how Greg loved to ride. Oh lord I reckon I'm not much just by myself. I fail to do alot of things I ought to do. But,Lord, when trails are steep and passes high, help me ride it straight the whole way through. And when in the falling dusk I get the final call, I do not care how many flowers they send- Above all else the happpiest trail would be for you to say to me; "Let's ride my friend." Amen-

My thoughts and prayers go out to Aunt Shirley, Uncle Nick, Uncle Mike, Aunt Faye and all my cousins and Lisa. My memories of Greg is when I babysat for my cousins. I would ask Greg to do something like help clean the house or go to bed. He would give me a hard time. I end up chasing him and he would threated to call his mother at work. I would always tell him to go ahead. I knew she would side with me. That was one I could look down to him. Years later when I saw him and have to look up to him. I can't believe I used to chase him. Greg will be miss.

Ride On Angels Wings The gypsy wind, has called your name, No time to say good-bye. You left us here alone,To take your final ride. The world it couldn't tame your soul, you lived your life with pride. Now you soar free - like the eagle, youre on your final ride. Gone now but not forgotten your forever in our dreams. Everyday the Sun shines for you, everyday the roads are dry. The straights go on forever; the bends are as you dream. There are no more worries; you will race amongst the stars. Your memory won't fade; well hold you deep inside. We'd come with you if, we only could, upon your final ride. It's time to say so long, As you take your final ride. We'll keep you with us in our hearts, If not riding by our side.

What I will all ways remember about Greg is even though he knew me he would all ways introduce me as "This is Chris, Thad's sister) OK Greg, Thad has a cold one waiting for you along with a TV that has nothing but NASCAR on it. I hope your next journey is as wild of a ride as this one was for you. Prayers, Hugs and Comfort to you Lisa and Greg's Immediate family and extend family. Some one needs to ring the dam bell!!!!

| I never had the chance to meet Greg and am deeply sorry for all of you that have lost him. I am a good friend of his brother, Todd, and know how much his family means to him. I hope Todd knows that if he needs anything during this time his friends at the Brownville Fish & Game Club are there for him.

| As I read many of the wonderful and thoughtful comments made pertaining to my brother Greg, I am truly humble and grateful that our family was blessed to have him as a son, a brother, a cousin, an uncle, and to many a great friend. I was less fortunate than the rest of my siblings to be able to spend alot of quality time with brother Greg; however, the few times I did spend with him were extremely memorable. My memory of Greg is that he was full of life, as well as, he enjoyed life to the fullest. Greg will be truly missed by us all. He is in GOD's protective and loving hands. My only regret is that I did not spend much time with him through the years. I leave that to my own device. I will miss you Greg. Love Brad

| I never met Greg, but I have heard many wonderful stories about him through my daughter (Mandi Dwyer) and her fiancee', Jeremy Shippee - and Sydney, too, of course. I'll never forget how Syd wanted a hot tub for Christmas when she was 2 or 3 - after she spent time in "Uncle Greg's" hot tub at A-Bay. My heart goes out to all his friends and family. He was definitely taken from this world far too soon. You are in my thoughts and my prayers. Debbie

Greg was one of my favorite uncles. I have memories of him that go all the way back to when I was 5 and 6 years old living with Grandma in Syracuse. Although like most of his other nieces and nephews I think my fondest memories are of the great 4th of July parties at his camp on the St Lawrence. Uncle Greg would take me for rides on his Harley and in his boat. He never cared who you brought along he made them feel at home. I remember bringing a girlfriend of mine from the Air Force home and he took her for a tour of the islands in the boat and went so fast over the waves we thought we were going to fly out. He told me how proud he was of me for joining the Air Force. Unfortunately I have not seen him in a few years since I am so far from home and don't make it to all the family get togethers, I can only hope that he knew how much he was loved. I will always remember his smile and love of life. My heart goes out to my grandparents who lost a son, all my aunts and uncles who lost a brother and all my cousins who share my sadness in losing a great uncle, and especially Aunt Lisa who lost her true love. WE MISS YOU UNCLE GREG!!!

| Greg is my brother whom I love very much.I will always remember when Greg thought his name was Bozie, our Dad called him that when he was a little tyke, because of the sleepers Mom used to put on him when a infant..Mom had to actually sit him down and explain to him that his name was Greg and not Bozie..he would come home from school with Bozie written on his papers...Greg was a well liked person and has a lovely wife Lisa that he has left behind...He also has one hell of a big family and countless number of friends....We will all surley miss him so very much...I am sure that someday again we will all be together...Love you so much

Greg was my Uncle and I miss him so much already! My first memories of my uncle was when I was a little girl and how he would always pick me up in the air and give me hugs and kisses. I remember spending alot of time at his camp while growing up. He was so loving and caring. Ill never forget how he and my aunt lisa let me bring up two of my friends and stay the weekend at their camp. It really meant alot to me that he would welcome my friends into his home, not even knowing who they were. But that was the type of person my uncle was. The most unforgetable memory was when he took me and my friends on his boat to see fireworks at the castle. On the way back something happened to the boat and the boat started sinking. Thankfully he knew the person at the nearest island so he could pump out some of the water and get his boat fixed. My aunt lisa's phone was all wet and she had to use mine. A few minutes after that I dropped it in the water. My uncle greg gave me money for a new phone, even though i was the one to drop it. Ill never forget that night because my mom wanted me home by a certain time and she didnt believe the boat was starting to sink until she talked with my aunt lisa and uncle greg. I love you and miss you so much Uncle Greg.

Hi i am one of Gregs many nephews. I just want to thank everyone for all the comments and memories that you are all sharing. Greg was always loved . The last time i saw Greg was two years ago down in Florida. I wish i would of saw him again but i never did. Two years was way too long not to see a family member. Life is too short. Family should always come first. I miss him . One of my greatest memories of Greg was when he and my father took me and my brother to our first Buffalo Bills games. I was only 10 or so at the time but i remember it like it was yesterday. We will always miss him. Jeremy Shippee

| What a one of a kind Uncle! The boys(Justin Spicer, Micheal Shippee, Patrick Laidlaw and more of his nephews) always looked up to him and wanted to be just like him. We always loved going to his cottage in the summers. He was so fun and loved having us kids around. He never needed to have any of his own kids, as he has so many nieces and nephews. He lived a fun-filled life and is still living up above. We will miss him,and he will always be in our hearts. Love Amber
