Here we go!

The Special Board Meeting for Thursday  May 8 @ 4:30 pm Has changed slightly.  Several concerned citizens have contacted various VB Members regarding who might be the next C.O.P.  As a result of these concerns, the original format of the special meeting has been modified to accomodate the Public and their Concerns.

1 The meeting will be called to order
2 Roll call will be taken
3 The meeting will then be opened to the Village Residents who want to address the VB with their concerns regarding the COP position.

I am not sure how many residents will want to address the VB regarding this matter.  Please make sure if you do address the VB, Please be prepared with a clear question[s] or  statement[s], Identify yourself, and speak directly to the VB members.  Getting into side conversations with other residents is going to slow things down. Lets stay focused, please!

When all of the village residents have finished voicing their concerns, the VB will then go into Executive Session.  The results will not be known until the VB returns from ES.

The issue of Sump pumps tied into sanitary sewers has some woes.  It was brought up that someone has disconnected their sump pump from the sewer and it has now become another residents headache.  Probably for some other neighbors too.  Listen to the audio.

Hearts For Youth allowed the kids to address the VB tonight.  Nick Shangraw led off the request for the skate board park and the ramps to be brought out of storage.  Other youths also spoke  in support of the ramps.  The VB reminded them that the arena is no longer managed by the Village but the town of AB.  There was some discussion of how to transport the ramps back to the Town Arena.  There was also some discussion of the shape of the ramps and how sturdy they might be since they were not shrink wrapped last year.  There is some concern about strutural integrity.  It is going to be investigated by H4Y.  More on this.......

One of the adults that was with H4Y asked the VB this next question about the condition of the ramps and who to call to see if they can be repaired.  This was a simple and innocent question.  She did not deserve the reply she recieved.

She asked " Who do I call? A carpenter?

George Burtch replied " their made of wood aren't they, of course you would call a carpenter......."

This was an uncalled for comment by George.  Keep in mind that George was sitting back looking real smug and his tone................ Listen to the audio.

What his reply could have been " yes a carpenter or someone knowledgable would do.  That would have been the nice reply.

Maybe all the people at the VB meetings should tug their left ear or something everytime GB says "what the hell".

Clean up your act George.  You are a Public official at a Public Meeting.

No phone calls or letters please

On to the next concern.

I saw the VB bending over backwards Twice or more on this next concern.  Rick Thomson From Pine Tree Point requested his water be turned on so that he could find a leak in his lines.  His water was shut off last fall for his failure to pay several over due water bills.  The amount that he owes will blow your minds.

He also placed the blame of the leaks that caused his enormous water bill when the village hooked up the water line  to Harbor Villas. Rick believes that when the Villas were connected it caused surging that caused the leak at PTP.

Nice job VB, you were more than fair, what the hell,  You were extremely generous with Ricks request.

Again Listen to The Audio

This also came up.  Curb Your Dog.  Which will probably be adopted after a public hearing scheduled in early summer.  Please note the dog on the leash and the owner with a poop containment device.

Mr Guston,
Who are you the ettiquette policeman??
Telling George to clean up his act because of what he said. Lots of us who elected George think he is amusing with his side comments. Keep it up George!

And Hammonite, post whatever you want, We enjoy the colorful reading(crap).

This is a little out of sequence from how the meeting actually went.
Each VB member presented reports from their areas of responsibility.  It appears that there was progress made in all areas.

Trustee Burtch made it a point to have Mayor Robb read the DWI reports.  George wanted to make a point that the VPD was not targeting locals with DWI's.  The mayor reported only 2.  I wonder what point George was trying to make?  Listen to the audio from last weeks special meeting on May 8th.

Chief Mullaney made a brief presentation of what was going on in the PD.
He presented himself in a courteous and professional manner.

Wellesley  Hammonite is causing problems on a semi-regular basis.. I don't know if he is posting again while drinking or what but I do not think it is funny..

if you encourage him then you are causing problems too.. and you are essentially causing more nonsense in a serious thread so I will tell you as well..

Knock it off..

Jim is right to be annoyed with Hammonite right now.. and again if Hammonite just knocks it off I am fine with him..

As for George I didn't vote for him because I thought he would be amusing. I voted for him because I thought he would do a good job. Unfortunately I was wrong.

I would post more from the meeting tonight.  But it was long with lots on the agenda.

And of course I had to stop and chit chat with a couple of hecklers.
whatever.............

If anyone wants to know why I voted for George,  It is because he sounds just like Jimmy Stewart

If people know George's attitude, hes very "jovial". I worked with George for a good 2-3 year up at the TI bait shop, and most everyday I worked with him, he always had a good mannered attitude. Granted, tourists get on your nerves, but when do they not? And George would bounce back on them with a smart remark, but usually everyone was laughing at the end.

Personally, I don't think the carpenter comment he made to the lady was rude or abrupt, maybe uncalled for but I don't think he meant for it to be a "sneering" remark, I imagine it was used to lighten the moment up. Many a time I have been with George and we would joke about things when people would ask us at the bait shop

Where are all the fish biting?

Reply: The river

What does a guy have to do to get a muskie?

Reply: Buy Muskie lures.

I'm not trying to say anyone is right or wrong, but I think a bit of nit picking is hard not to do, when someone has done some wrong turns in the past.
