Brian K. Mullaney was appointed provisional police chief by the village Board of Trustees on Thursday evening during a special meeting.

He is the goodwill ambassador for Alexandria Bay, riding around on his bicycle, stopping to say hello to everyone, smiling like it is his job, and offering people directions and help.
